Mediation Fee Schedule

Mediation fees are charged on a per-party basis depending on a half-day or full-day mediation session.

All parties represented by the same lawyer are considered to be one party for purposes of the mediation fee. For multi-party or complex cases that require a substantial amount of preparation time, additional fees may be proposed.

For most mediations, the following fee structure applies:

Half-day morning mediations and full-day mediations typically begin at 9:00 am, and half-day afternoon mediations typically begin at 1:30 pm.

If a mediation extends beyond the scheduled number of hours, the mediator may charge an overtime fee of $400 per hour in mediations between 2-3 parties, and $450 per hour in mediations between 4 or more parties.

Fees for in-person mediations include drinks, snacks, and parking; and, for full-day mediations lunch as well.

If assistance is needed in deciding whether to mediate in-person or remotely, this article provides some considerations to discuss with Felicia.

Mediation sessions can be conducted online via Zoom or in person either at the Texas Justice Center, 4900 Fournace Place, Suite 200, Bellaire, Texas 77401 or at another location mutually agreed upon by all parties.

Alternative Fees

Felicia appreciates that all cases and clients are not alike. Because the same can be said for mediations, Felicia builds flexibility into the mediation fee schedule and is willing to adjust a fee depending on the complexity of the issues, the number of parties, the amount in controversy, and other relevant circumstances. Please call Felicia at (281) 686-7927 or email her at Felicia@HarrisHossPLLC.com to talk about alternative fee arrangements or for more information.

Payment of Fees In Advance Required

All fees are due before the mediation session begins and may be paid through Zelle (Felicia@HarrisHossPLLC.com), delivered by a law firm or cashiers check, or submitted by eCheck or credit card through the payment portal.

Fee Cancellation Policy

Late cancellation of mediations is disruptive for a variety of reasons. As a result, a late cancellation policy has been adopted. If the mediation is cancelled within 3 business days of the scheduled mediation session, and the date cannot be filled with another service, a cancellation fee of 50% of the total mediation fee for the mediation may be charged to the cancelling party, in the absence of valid reasons for cancellation such as illness or other unavoidable, unexpected, and uncontrollable circumstances. If the scheduled mediation is cancelled on the mediation date, the parties will be charged the full fee for the cancelled session.

Expenses

Occasionally, it is necessary to incur expenses for large, multi-party complex cases. Examples include larger hearing rooms and/or additional caucus rooms. Such expenses will be identified in advance and agreed upon by the parties prior to invoicing. The goal is to provide quality, efficient, comfortable and affordable mediations.
